Neonatal surgery
Specialized surgical care for newborns, including premature babies
Our unit provides advanced surgical care for newborns with urgent and complex conditions, supported by a fully equipped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for premature and critically ill babies. We also offer antenatal counseling for families when anomalies are detected before birth, helping parents prepare for a the safest care plan immediately after delivery.
Pyloric stenosis
Thickening of the stomach outlet in newborns, causing forceful milky vomiting after feeds. Treated with a small surgical procedure to restore normal feeding.
Bowel obstruction
Includes conditions such as intestinal atresia, malrotation, and meconium ileus. Surgery relieves the blockage and restores normal bowel function.
Abdominal wall defects
A condition where a baby is born with the intestines or other abdominal organs outside the body. Surgery is performed to safely return the organs into the abdomen and close the hole.
Imperforate anus
A congenital condition where the anal opening is missing or blocked, requiring surgery to create or reconstruct the passage for stool.
Esophageal atresia/ Tracheo-esophageal fistula
A connection between the windpipe and the food pipe, or an incomplete food pipe, that prevent proper feeding. Surgery is performed after birth to restore normal swallowing and breathing.
Diaphragmatic Hernia
A hole in the diaphragm allowing abdominal organs to move into the chest, significantly affecting breathing. Surgery is performed after the baby's breathing is stabilized in the NICU.
