About Dr. AbdulRahman AlShafei
Dr. AbdulRahman AlShafei is an Irish and UK-trained Consultant Pediatric Surgeon and Pediatric Urologist, providing advanced surgical and urological care for newborns, infants, and children in Bahrain.
He completed his residency in Pediatric Surgery at Children’s Health Ireland, the country’s leading tertiary children’s hospital, where he earned the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI). He later undertook a fellowship in Complex Pediatric Urology at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in the UK, gaining extensive experience in managing congenital anomalies and complex reconstructive conditions in infants and children.
Dr. AlShafei also holds a Master’s degree in Surgery, with a research thesis on hypospadias repair in children, reflecting his commitment to advancing outcomes in pediatric urology.
Beyond his clinical work, he volunteers with Operation ChildLife, delivering life-changing surgical care in low-resource countries. A passionate educator and researcher, he serves as a lecturer and examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI Bahrain) and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in pediatric surgery and urology.
